How did Meli Foods get started?


It was July and I was getting ready to go to a friend's barbecue. As I did for every party, I was going to bring my mom's Greek
pastry, the galaktoboureko (custard filled fillo pastry). The galaktoboureko was a hit. Everyone loved it! In August, the summer was over
and my life as a broke and unemployed law student continued. One day I was sitting in class bored and thinking random thoughts, when
the idea came to me. Why not sell my mom's galaktoboureko as a frozen food product?

Growing up in a Greek traditional home, homemade cooking and desserts was a must. However, my generation of mothers and wives struggles with balancing work, cleaning and cooking. So why not help these women bring some traditional delicious Greek pastries in their homes in under 30 minutes. No one has to know the pastries were bought in a store!!

Since that day, I graduated law school and was admitted to the NYS Bar. Now I am using the strength and confidence I gained during my law school journey to start the first company to offer Greek pastries as a frozen food product.
